Honestly, the cast list alone should be enough to get you fizzing at the split for this one.
With names like Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, and Jeffrey Wright on board, HBO‘s upcoming sci-fi/western series ‘Westworld‘ is already doing itself more than a few favours.
But when you throw in the fact that Jonathan Nolan co-created the series, directed the first episode, and helped produce the show alongside JJ Abrams, it gets all the more exciting.
And then when you consider that the whole thing is based on the bloody excellent 1973 film of the same name, it’s time to start considering a change of pants.
HBO‘s newest high-concept brain-scratcher takes place in hyper-realistic world where a futuristic theme park has been set up to give people “authentic” experiences of different eras. Each world of the theme park is populated by extraordinarily realistic andriods, with this particular series focusing on the “western” world of the theme park.
It is, as per the official description, a “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin,” which is a sentence so magnificent I’m seriously considering getting it tattooed on my forehead.
