WATCH: Chris Hemsworth Urges You To Get Wet For Aussie Tourism Spot

When we first caught word Chris Hemsworth was Tourism Australia’s new go-to dude, we kinda assumed he’d just be pointing starstruck Americans in the direction of their nearest airport, using nought but his Antipodean charm to convince passers-by Australia is the shit.

Failing that, when we heard the new push would be showcasing our coastline, we pegged it as this short, on repeat:

We’re still convinced that’s all it’d take, but here we are, on January 26, staring at a brand-spankers new campaign featuring the commanding voice of Thor himself.
Hemsworth was on deck to launch the campaign in New York City today, as that particular pocket of the planet suffers its way through some utterly miserable weather. With any luck, the contrast between this nation’s beeeeaaut coastline and the U.S’ all-enveloping snow will book tickets by itself.
Oh, the ad itself is pretty nice too. Keep an eye out for SA’s Kangaroo Island, VIC’s 12 Apostles, and… Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin.

Tourism Australia also took a punt on 360° video technology, and they’ve released a nifty short chocka-block with frolicking seals. The goal, of course, is to make the ads as ~ literally ~ immersive as possible. You bloody rippa.
