Marina Abramovic, the world famous conceptual artist and recent collaborator of noted hyphen divorcee, Jay Z, has taken Lady Gaga under her wing to guide Gaga through the art of the “Abramovic Method”.
According to the Marina Abramovic Institute (which is apparently an actual thing), the Abramovic Method is a series of exercises designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment which, based on the following footage, includes walking through a forest blindfolded in the nude and wrapping your naked body around a giant crystal.
Art is the theme driving Lady Gaga’s upcoming album/app/ArtRave experiment ARTPOP (due November 11th), which she has described as a “reverse Warholian experience” whereby she’ll bring a fine art aesthetic to widely accessible pop music.
I’m still undecided as to whether Marina Abramovic is a genuine genius who is tapped into a higher state of awareness than the rest of us, or a genuine genius who has successfully swindled the entire world and is laughing hysterically in private while fanning herself with wads of hundred dollar bills.
Art has no boundaries.
