Chloe, Gaga & Marc In V Mag’s NYC Issue

New York: The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps, The Capital of The World… New Yorkers relishing in all their glory. Yep, we get it. But just in case you’ve forgotten, V Mag has just released a New York edition of their most recent issue, featuring a handful of famous New York residents including Marc Jacobs, Blondie singer and New Wave icon Debbie Harry, influential performance artist Kalup Linzy, model Liya Kebede, Marina Abramovic and, of course, the poster girl for New York cool Chloe Sevigny.

The spread is a tribute to 26 of the most eclectic and creative people that the city has branded as the new wave of NYC icons, particularly since Woody Allen is getting progressively less photogenic. Proclaiming NY as being “the Best Damn City in the Universe” and “the Only Place Where You Can Be Anything You Want to Be When You Want to Be It”, the V Mag shoot is photographed by Mario Testino and styled by the brilliant Nicola Formichetti.

And marking exactly one year since her first V cover, Lady Gaga returns; this time as a scantily clad, modern-day Lady Liberty. V editor Stephen Gan explained, “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion. She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope.” I believe they call it “laying it on thick”?

The release of the New York Issue comes less than a week before the launch of New York Fashion Week, in which our very own Bambi Northwood-Blyth will make her debut.
