US Journo Rinsed After 78 Y.O. Congresswoman Gives Him The Ole’ ‘Boy, Bye’

Covering politics in the media is a tough-ass job at the best of times, and there are absolutely occasions where people in the field need to be held to account by journalists. But hooley dooley, do you ever have to pick your battles.
A journo for online video-based source The Young Turks is copping bulk heat for chucking an almighty wobbly over a confrontation with a 78-year-old Democratic congresswoman over the weekend.
Reporter Michael Tracey confronted Representative Maxine Waters (D-California) outside the ‘March for Truth‘ protest in Los Angeles this past Saturday (US time).
Tracey asked Waters about her pursuit of President Donald Trump in regards to his alleged and controversial relationship with Russia, which Waters answered by asserting that “Russia is not our friend.” But it was the follow-up question – “When you say ‘Russia is not our friend,’ was Obama mistaken to forge military cooperation with Russia in Syria?” – that seems to have ruffled Waters’ feathers a little bit.
Waters delivered a terse response before moving away from the impromptu interview with a wave of the hand, deflecting Tracey’s microphone which was in her face at the time. The video below shows the whole thing.

Nothing out of the ordinary. One ok question and one “you say you don’t like sandwiches, does this mean you hate all bread?“-style leap of logic, leading to a very small elderly woman walking away from a man accosting her. Easy come, easy go.

But Tracey’s reaction escalated quickly from the mild bemusement you can see in the video, to a full-on hissy fit on Twitter shortly thereafter.

“Erratic, intemperate, and unprofessional.” Bloody hell calm down, Hemingway.

Tracey’s dogged defence of this apparent egregious slight committed against him has drawn the ire of peers and contemporaries alike, none of whom have been particularly kind in their assessment of his behaviour.

Michael, my dude, let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you through this difficult time. An outrageous owning of that scale often stings harder than the violent gentle wave of a tiny elderly congresswoman.


Loathe as we are to suggest it but the only prescription for a malady of this nature is probs a solid cup of concrete.
