Two Arrested Over Woman’s Body Found In NSW Creek Last Month

Homicide Squad detectives arrested two people on Thursday morning in connection to the murder of Danielle Easey, whose body was found wrapped in plastic near Newcastle in August.

A NSW Police statement said Strike Force Furzer detectives had arrested a 33-year-old man at an industrial premises in Cardiff around 10am and a 32-year-old woman at a home in Holmesville about an hour later.

The unidentified man has been taken to Belmont Police Station and the woman has been taken to Toronto Police Station.

Detectives also seized a Mitsubishi Delica and executed a search warrant at the Holmesville home.

Twenty-nine-year-old Danielle Easey’s body was first found around 10:30am on August 31 by a member of the public, who noticed an object floating in the water at Cockle Creek. She had been living with family in Booragul, about 20kms out of Newcastle, but had recently been staying in multiple locations.

A post mortem examination was conducted and revealed Easey had been seriously assaulted and stabbed.

New South Wales Police’s Strike Force Furzer investigation is continuing.
