Tom Hanks is basically America’s Dad and, like any parent, he can’t stand an under resourced kitchen.
During the Bush administration, he noticed a grave injustice in the White House press corps’ designated break area – no coffee machine – and took it upon himself to buy one for the caffeine-starved reporters, photographers and cameramen. He replaced *that* one in 2010, when he saw it was looking rather grubby during another visit to the Washington.
In keeping with tradition – and the fact that now, more than ever, journalists need drugs to survive – Hanks gifted a new, US $1,700 machine to the press corps under Trump‘s administration.
The best part? An accompanying note that read:
“Keep up the good fight for truth, justice, and the American Way. Especially for the truth part.”
