Tom Hanks Thanks Everyone Down Under For “Taking Such Good Care Of Us” In Isolation Update

Tom Hanks + Rita Wilson

Adored man Tom Hanks has given fans an update on his health following the announcement that he and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus.

“Hello folks,” he shared in a post on Instagram, “Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us.

“We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time.”

Hanks encouraged everyone to follow the advice of experts and to take care of ourselves and each other.

“Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”

As always, he signed off with a simple “Hanx”. I’m crying into my salad, goddamn it Tom Hanks.

Posting the same picture on Instagram, Wilson said she is “so grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love and support. Means so much and strengthens us.”

Hanks revealed he and Wilson had tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday afternoon. Since then, anyone who has been in contact with the couple have been instructed to self-isolate including Channel Nine’s Today Extra presenters David Campbell and Belinda RussellA Current Affairs presenter Tracy Grimshaw was also sent home as a precaution after Wilson appeared on Today Extra and used Grimshaw’s dressing room. Grimshaw is still recovering from a recent surgery so has decided to step back from hosting duties until her immune system is back to 100 per cent.

Two of Hanks’ children, Chet and Colin, have thanked the public for their concern and have ensured fans that the Hanks will be okay.

“My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances,” Colin shared on Twitter and Instagram. “Despite the fact that I’m in LA and haven’t seem them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery.”
