Tim Barber is a busy man. He’s so busy we suspect he may be an android. He’s so busy he makes Bruce Wayne feel lazy. Shit, he’s so busy Ed Banger head honcho Busy P should be ashamed to have that word in his moniker.
For those who don’t know, Barber’s designations include: custodian of online photography portal Tiny Vices, founder of independent publishing house TV Books, subject of Shoot a recently launched tome honouring exponents of single-lens reflex cameras and of course, an accomplished photographer who has worked for the likes of Stella McCartney, Vice, i-D, Nike and Rolling Stone.
Like his good friend and contemporary Ryan McGinley, Barber cares not for stilted posing, elaborate lighting set-ups or sickly sharp images. The emphasis is instead placed on capturing real moments and as a result – real emotion. If anything, Barber proves there’s magic in everyday life – you just have to know where to look.
Anyway, considering his mountain of commitment and prolific creative output we’ll excuse Barber’s tardiness in scraping an online portfolio together and instead say something about good things coming to those who wait. Prepare to pick your jaw off the ground.
