Teen Girl Suffers Spinal Injuries On A Ride At Gold Coast’s Wet N Wild

A teenage girl is in a stable condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital after suffering a suspected spinal injury on a ride at Wet N Wild yesterday afternoon.
Queensland Ambulance representatives stated that the girl, who is in her late teens, got off the Aqualoop slide at around midday yesterday and immediately reported neck pains to attending life guards.
A statement issued by Wet N Wild confirmed the injury, stating that the park guest also informed lifeguards on duty of a pre-existing condition, and as such the decision was made to transport her to hospital as a precaution.

“Lifeguards and the on-site nurse provided first-aid. The guest advised lifeguards of a pre-existing condition and she was transported to hospital as a matter of precaution.

“The safety and wellbeing of guests is the highest priority at Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast. The park has a highly trained emergency response team and works closely with emergency services.”

The Aqualoop tube-style ride, which involves a trap door start and sends riders down a vertical drop before shooting them around a 45-degree loop, opened up at the park in 2010.
