Taylor Kitsch Confirmed For True Detective Season 2, According To Taylor Kitsch

The longest-winded casting process in the history of mankind (probably don’t Google that) continues to creak its rusty cogs ever-so-bloody-slowly. Whether it be out of a staunch desire to throw a Blue Harvest blanket over the production and keep everything as clandestine as possible, or whether it be simply because they’re enjoying being dicks about it, HBO‘s ability to keep information for the much talked about second season of True Detective is pretty admirable.

In fact such is the level of secrecy that they’ve managed to even keep the actors who are probably going to be in it out of the loop, leading some of them to crack and go rogue to spill some speculative beans. The network will only officially confirm the involvement of Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn thus far, but according to Taylor Kitsch, the rumours that he’ll be stepping into the show’s shoes are very true as well.
In an interview with Ad Week, Kitsch confirmed his involvement with the show in a very coy, tight-lipped manner, simply stating the following:
Mm-hmm.
‘Course he elaborated a little on things after that.
I’m really excited. I’ve just been prepping. It’s been almost a full year since I’ve been on camera, so I’m itching, man. I’m overdue. You’ve just got to grind it out. Even taking this year off was, I mean you want to work, but you also don’t want to just water it down and work for the sake of working. So, it was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True.
I mean it was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be a part of it. And having this meeting with Nic Pizzolatto, it kind of brought me back to when I was here in New York and why I wanted to be a actor, why you struggle and why you don’t quit. And when we’re talking, I mean he’s obviously incredibly smart and passionate, so that rubs off. And you’re just excited to go now. I can’t fucking wait to hit camera. So I’m excited. I loved that first season of it so much. It’s just unlike anything I’ve seen in, you know, I don’t know when. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real. Nowadays, it takes fucking balls to stand by that and do it that way.
As for Rachel McAdams, the long-rumoured fourth piece of the True Detective puzzle, there’s still no word if she will be involved as predicted. Given HBO’s current timeline, we can expect official word sometime between now and when hell freezes over.
