Colin Farrell Confirms He’s Been Cast In True Detective Season 2

It’s probably some of the worst kept news from one of the most constantly churning rumour mills going around, but finally we’ve got some concrete, straight from the horse’s mouth, can’t be argued with, write it in stone, put it to bed confirmation. Everyone’s favourite rugged Irish thespian Colin Farrell has confirmed, at long last, that he will be taking on one of the lead roles in the already much vaunted and keenly anticipated second season of HBO‘s gritty standalone seasonal crime drama True Detective. Commence frothing.

Unfortunately for all of us, Farrell didn’t do much beyond confirming that he’ll be in the show, stating to the Sunday World the following:
I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited.
So you can go right ahead and mark that one off your potential-actors-who-could-be-in-True Detective bingo cards, sports fans.
As for the rest of the cast, the rumoured list of potential stars reads as a directory in the Screen Actor’s Guild contacts handbook.
Rosario Dawson, Elizabeth Moss, Rachel McAdamsJessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Jaimie Alexander, Oona Chaplin, Brit Marling and Kelly Reilly have all been mentioned in one form or another as potential candidates for one of Season 2’s lead female roles, whereas on the male side of the spectrum it’s been Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughan whose names have been bandied about the most frequently. It’s already exhausting, right?
Beyond some bare potential plot rumours – oy vey, again with the rumours – not a real lot is known about the second season, which HBO and the show’s staff have impressively managed to keep tightly under wraps.
The second season of True Detective is rumoured – and now it’s got more rumours than Fleetwood Mac – to hit small screens everywhere sometime towards the middle of next year.
