It’s pretty bloody hard to keep an actual surprise completely intact in this tweet-a-day age; what with everyone these days being overgrown 5-year-olds desperate to search for Christmas presents in their parent’s cupboards and whatnot.
But radio champion Andy Lee? Yup. He just pulled one off. A real big one.
The hilarious legend/unearther of Australia’s best bloke/Hamish’s best mate has very quietly unveiled a pretty potent string to his own bow: Children’s author.
Lee has pulled a swift one on all of us and very quietly announced, and released, a children’s book he wrote entitled ‘Do Not Open This Book.’
The story goes that Lee originally intended the book to be a very limited edition of just one; a surprise for his sister and her husband for their son’s 1st birthday.
EVERYBODY ON 3. 1, 2, 3…
Teaming up with illustrator Heath McKenzie, Lee decided to release the book to the public, and it is officially on sale as of today.
Per the accompanying press release:
“‘Do Not Open This Book’ is a hilarious read that follows the story of a character who asks the reader not to turn the page… or something terrible will happen. This guy will do anything for readers not to open this book – threats, bribes, reverse psychology – you name it!”
Honestly? That sounds like an absolute blast. 10/10, would read/make up silly voices for.
