Annabelle Falkholt, the 21-year-old sister of former Home & Away actor Jessica Falkholt, has died in hospital today from injuries sustained in a shocking car crash on Boxing Day.

The crash, which happened on the Princes Highway south of Sussex Inlet in NSW, claimed the lives of both of the sisters’ parents, as well as the driver of the four wheel drive that collided with their car. It’s since been revealed that the driver, a man called Craig Anthony Whitall, was a serial traffic offender who had only just got his licence back after being suspended.
The collision was so serious that it closed the highway, after one of the vehicles burst into flames.
It’s reported that Whitall’s 4WD veered onto the wrong side of the road after he failed to take a corner properly, hitting the Falkholts’ car head-on. Whitall is also believed to have been coming from an appointment at a methadone clinic, and police say they are investigating whether the drug had anything to do with the accident.

Both Jessica and Annabelle were rushed from the scene with serious injuries. Jessica remains in a critical condition in St George’s Hospital. Our thoughts are with her, and her friends and family.
