Santa’s Bringing A Scorching Fuck-Off Heatwave To Parts Of AUS This Xmas

Deck the halls with air conditioning. Fa-la-la-la-lah, la-lah lah lah.
A garden spray gun for face misting. Fa-la-la-la-lah, la-lah lah lah.
Shit-a-brick, the fridge needs fixin’. Fa-la-lah, la-la-lah, lah lah lah.
Fill the esky with Froth Whitlams. Fa-la-la-la-lah, la-lah lah lah.
The big man in red is about to scoot over the great sunburnt country and we already know that in that giant sack of his will be some scorching hot weather that’ll be spread practically across the country.
What we’ve only learned just now, however, is that some parts of the country will be getting a lot of hot weather. As in “severe heatwave” levels of it.
The Bureau of Meteorology has updated their forecast for the following week, and South Australia and Victoria are set to cop a pounding from repeated very hot days, with large parts of Victoria, including Melbourne, now on alert for severe heatwave conditions.

Beginning tomorrow, the Victorian capital is set to cop a pounding from heat that’ll start in the low 30s before rising up to around the 35 degree on Christmas Day, where it’ll stay largely until at least next Wednesday.

Tomorrow’s temperature is set to reach a peak of 29, before Christmas Eve cops 31, Christmas Day hits 35, Boxing Day gets 31, and then the Tuesday and Wednesday both settle in at 35.
Christmas Day is forecast to be the peak of the bad times, with temperatures overnight into Boxing Day not expected to dip much below the mid-20s.
Inland Victoria, including Mildura, looks set to be worse off still, with temperatures floating around the 40 degree mark for the bulk of the coming weekend.
Meanwhile over in Adelaide, temperatures are forecast to linger in the high 30s/low 40s from tomorrow until at least next Tuesday, with Christmas Day now set to peak at around the 40 degree mark.
Northerly winds, which southern state residents will know all-too-well as the bastards that are so dry they’re capable of stripping the enamel off your teeth, are the cause of this spate of heat, which marks the first real stretch of hot weather for the summer season.
Fortunately, however, the winds are not predicted to be strong, and as such the various state Country Fire Authorities have not declared total fire bans for the festive season, which is certainly good news for bush properties for the time being.
So folks in VIC and SA? Chrimbus is gonna be feckin’ hot. And there’s really only one way to truly beat that heat:
Hell yeah.
