A stupefyingly obnoxious profile of a Sydney man Reddit has dubbed “Australia’s Biggest Wanker” has been viewed over 700,000 times and attracted over 1000 comments ranging from “none of what he does makes him an idiot; its how he talks about it that does” to “I think he was trying to humble brag about how fast his beard grows”.
Sydney-based art director Jarryd Zankovic, 28, partook in a B&T Magazine photo shoot profiling the most stylish people in advertising. An image of the profile – in which Zankovic calls himself a “hybrid between beauty therapist and tradie”, admits he fits the “Surry Hills mould”, describes his personal style as “effortless” and implies he has a big ole dong hanging twixt his designer drop crotch pantaloons – was quickly derided for its unspeakable levels of pretentiousness.
His employer, Play Communications, has since accused the piece of taking his words out of context: “We were surprised by the tone of the article – it certainly doesn’t reflect Jarryd’s nature at all – he’s a great guy who’s both talented and grounded,” they said. “Although he’s always well-groomed, more than anything he was having a laugh at himself and general stereotypes – some things have been taken out of context.”
