Olivia Newton John‘s daughter Chloe Lattanzi has quit Instagram after a bunch of people left “incredibly insensitive” comments about her mum’s second cancer diagnosis.
Guys. What the hell.
Lattanzi posted an emotional #TBT pic of her and her mum and thanked people for their support, after Newton-John announced that she was battling breast cancer for the second time.
But because people are ghouls with not a single shred of empathy, she was inundated with nasty comments. In a follow-up post on June 1 in which she announced she was quitting the platform for good, Lattanzi said:
“Some woman commented that I couldn’t post happy pictures of myself because of what my mother is going through. I am so sad and no one has any idea what I am going through.”
Enough to make anyone feel disinclined to use Instagram, I’m sure. Here’s an idea: don’t police how people deal with bad news. It’s tacky as hell.
