Melbourne’s Vicious Montague St Bridge Claims Bus In Endless Quest For Blood

You there! Motorist! Are you driving anything taller than a Razor Scooter? Do not turn down Montague Street in South Melbourne.

Do not do it.
Do not think about doing it.
There is a low bridge there. You will hit it.
No, it’s not going to be alright just this once. You will hit the bridge.
Yes, your large vehicle is bigger than 3 metres. You are going to hit the bridge.
There is no such thing as just sneaking under it. There is only hitting the bridge.
Stop it. Stop doing it. Go around.
Some absolute numpty behind the wheel of a PTV BUS of all things came unstuck at Melbourne’s favourite tall-vehicle can opener earlier this afternoon, with the infamous Montague Street Bridge claiming its latest victim.
The infamously low bridge copped a slamming from the bus that was inexplicably driving down the stretch of road between Normanby and City Roads earlier this afternoon, with the top of the bus crashing into the roof of the rail overpass.

Why the bus was attempting to pass underneath the bridge is anyone’s guess at this point; PTV bus routes do not cross under the bridge due to the fact that busses do not fit underneath it, so it appears likely that the off-duty vehicle was attempting some sort of short cut.

And as merciless as the steel girders that make up the bridge are, so too have Melburnians reactions to the latest in a long-string of oopa-days.

Hell, by now even the bridge itself has had a gutfull.

We repeat: Drive around it. For the love of all that is holy, just drive around the damned thing.
