Melbourne Streets Cop Flash-Flooding Thanks To Some Serious Goddamn Storms

Pockets of Melbourne have been hit with flash-flooding after some intense storms this afternoon, all but confirming that the city’s inclement weather isn’t just some stale punchline: it’s legitimately garbage right now, people.

Usually busy streets in several south-eastern suburbs, including Prahran, St. Kilda and East Bentleigh, have been inundated with floodwaters as a result of this afternoon’s downpour.

Several public transport routes have been disrupted because of the floodwaters, with passengers on the city’s Sandringham line demonstrating exactly how wild conditions are.

The Bureau Of Meteorology blames the sudden downpour on a low-pressure system that’s barreled in from the west of Victoria, resulting in thunderstorms across large swaths of the state.

Here’s the BOM’s latest Severe Weather Warning map, to give you some context:

The storms are expected to keep up throughout the evening, progressing south-east through the region. As always, stay on top of updates from the Bureau of Meteorology here, Yarra Trams here, and Metro Trains here.

Oh, don’t drive or walk through the floodwaters, either. Not only is it dangerous, the water is probably full of poop.
