Original Karen and UK conservative, Katie Hopkins, has now been dropped by Channel Seven and Endemol Shine, after she claimed she was deliberately trying to breach hotel quarantine rules in Sydney.
ICYMI: Hopkins took to her Instagram live on Friday to express her feelings about lockdown laws in Australia, calling the pandemic the “greatest hoax in human history.” Alright, Karen.
She also said she had been deliberately trying to defy hotel quarantine rules, by opening the door to hotel quarantine staff…naked.
Now, Channel Seven has decided to terminate her contract, according to The Guardian. This decision is in line with an out-clause in Hopkins’ contract with Channel Seven that says talent should not bring the network into disrepute. It also asks that overseas personalities comply with visa conditions.
“Seven Network and Endemol Shine Australia confirm that Katie Hopkins is not part of Big Brother VIP,” Channel Seven in a statement on Sunday.
“Seven and Endemol Shine strongly condemn her irresponsible and reckless comments in hotel quarantine.”
However, it should be noted that the statement isn’t clear about whether she was part of the rumoured Big Brother VIP cast in the first place.
Earlier today, it was reported that the Australian Border Force were asked to do an “urgent review” into Katie Hopkins’ behaviour.
“It is despicable that anyone would behave in such a way that puts our health officials and community at risk,” Minister for Home Affairs Karen Andrews said via The New Daily.
“I have directed Australian Border Force to immediately consider the facts of this matter and urgently review whether this individual is complying with the requirements of her visa.”
In fact, even Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said he had no problem with exercising his powers to send her home from Australia.
“I’m the one who wanted to send home Johnny Depp’s dogs so I have no problem sending home someone who wants to flout our laws.
“If you want to do that, pack your bongo and get out.”
Wow, if even tomato-face-Joyce wants Hopkins out of the country, then you know it’s bad.
