Hell Yes: Facebook Is Testing A GIF Button In The Comments Section

As it stands, you do currently have the ability to post GIFs in Facebook‘s comments section if you wish, but it’s a cumbersome process involving copying and pasting URLs from other places, and frankly not worth it most of the time.
All of that could be about to change, with reports today that the social network is set to start rolling out a native GIF button to “a small percentage” of users, making good on a promise Mark Zuckerberg made last December.
Details of the feature have not been released, but it is likely to be similar to the current GIF button in Facebook’s Messenger app, and will allow you to spam your friends with even more RuPaul’s Drag Race reactions than ever before.
A representative for the company said:

“Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we’re about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.”

Facebook have not yet specified how long the test period will last, but we eagerly await a dystopian future where all of human interaction has been replaced by whimsical moving images of Leonardo DiCaprio
