Wow, colour us shocked: according to reports from a source in the same facility as disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, the alleged serial sex pest is not making the most of his time in therapy.
It’s been reported that Weinstein checked himself into an inpatient treatment centre in order to go to rehab – presumably for sex addiction, though it could be (and has been) argued that Weinstein appears to be less of a sex addict and more of an incorrigible arsehole with a penchant for disempowering women.
In any case, it sure sounds like Weinstein is not approaching his treatment with anything near good faith. The New York Post purports to have spoken to someone who appears to be at the same rehab centre, and they are not impressed with Weinstein’s conduct.
For one thing, they say that he’s not actually an inpatient – he’s at an “intensive outpatient” centre, which means he gets to go home to a hotel every night.
For another, they say he’s regularly fallen asleep during group therapy sessions, and has smuggled in a cellphone, which are supposed to be prohibited. More concerningly, the bloke doesn’t appear to think he’s actually done anything wrong.
The source told the Post:
In one group therapy session, Harvey arrived 15 minutes late. Then, when it was his turn to speak, he launched into a speech about how this is all a conspiracy against him.
Not great.
The source also said that during a group session,
Harvey fell asleep in his chair. He was only woken up by the ringing of his smuggled mobile phone [which is banned at the facility] … Harvey jolted awake, jumped up, immediately took the call and then ran out of the room.
Meanwhile, another “source”, this one on Weinstein’s team, says that he’s being unfairly characterised (mmm… okay).
He insists he never raped or assaulted anyone, and that all the encounters were consensual. He realises he has acted like an asshole, but he still insists he’s not a rapist. He does have his phone, but when he is in therapy he has to give it to someone else. The characterisation of what he said and what happened at the group session isn’t true.
Considering he’s currently being investigated by police in New York, Los Angeles and London… well, we’ll just see about all that, won’t we.
