Grab Your Brollies, ’Cos The East Coast Is About To Get Thoroughly Drenched

We hope you didn’t have any plans tonight other than curling up at home, because the east coast of Australia is about to be lashed with severe wind and rain.

Storms are gathering strength over parts of west and south-western New South Wales, and are expected to hit central and southern Queensland (including Brisbane), central and southern NSW, the ACT, and northern and eastern parts of Victoria.

Sydney can expect the full force around 6–7pm tonight, so there’s an excuse to leave work early.

“We’ll see some decent amounts of rain in parts, with a chance of hail. There’s a possibility of severe storms later on, damaging winds and heavy rain and large hail,” meteorologist Tom Hoff from Weatherzone told 9news.com.au.

“Theres a good chance that some of these storms will be severe.”

Flash flooding and hail 2cm wide are both possible, with bursts of heavy rain in the mix.

Things should clear up overnight, so your Friday plans aren’t totally in the shitter.

But yeah… maybe cancel whatever you had on tonight and just head home instead.
