Facebook Is Finally Working On A ‘Dislike’ Button So You Can Get Salty

Facebook are constantly making tweaks to the algorithms that control your news feed, and rolling out new features, but today’s announcement is a big’un, for today, they have finally caved, and announced that they are working on a ‘dislike’ button.
Founder Mark Zuckerberg spoke about the upcoming new feature at a Q&A session yesterday, telling the audience that:
“I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it.”
Facebook has long allowed users to hide posts they don’t like, but has been reluctant to introduce a ‘dislike’ option, to avoid steering the site towards negativity, or creating a Reddit-like system of upvoting and downvoting. “That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world,” Zuckerberg previously maintained.
This new announcement effectively acknowledges that people on the internet aren’t always happy, and want to express a range of emotions. “What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment,” Zuckerberg said.

There is no word yet on when this new feature will arrive, or on what definite form it will take.
