Auburn Deputy Mayor Sued After Hitting Two Women In His Ferrari

Salim Mehajer, the Auburn Deputy Mayor who just keeps on giving and the man behind the nation’s most lavish wedding, is being sued for damages by two women who he hit with his Ferrari in 2012.
Mehajer, aged 26 at the time of the incident, lost control of his Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and ran onto a footpath in Lidicombe, striking mother and daughter Nua Hua and Tuyet La, then aged 68 and 40.
The pair underwent surgery for serious leg and pelvic injuries, and Mehajer was convicted of negligent driving and sentenced to community service, although the conviction was later overturned.
Nua Hua and Tuyet La have since launched civil proceedings against Mehajer, and a hearing is scheduled for NSW District Court on September 9.
When contacted for comment by Fairfax, he responded:
“The current proceedings are civil proceedings between the injured persons and the relevant insurer and, as they are ongoing, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further”.

Mehajer is facing additional legal strife right now, with the NSW Office of Local Government investigating allegations that he voted on council rezoning plans without sufficiently disclosing his own property interests.
