Andrew Bolt (?) Has Weighed In (??) On Miley And Liam’s Breakup (???)

Andrew Bolt has temporarily paused his defence of a convicted pedophile to finally answer the question on everyone’s mind: is he Team Miley or Team Liam?

The News Corp conservative opinionist today used his endless Herald Sun blog space to let his followers know that Miley Cyrus seems nasty (to him), making it clear where he stands on the fabled Cyrus / Hemsworth dividing line.

Starting off with a somewhat rhetorical question, (“How nasty Miley Cyrus?”), Bolt continues on a rather strange analysis of the singer’s performance at the MTV VMA awards, including anonymous sources and implications of mob rule.

“Publicly telling your (still) husband to bugger off as you swagger with your new mate, all to the applause of your huge TV audience – can it get any meaner?” asks Bolt, for some reason.

It seems Bolt’s problems lie not just with Cyrus’s lyrics but also with her public trashing of Hemsworth. Calling the behaviour “cruel” and “trashy”, he finishes with a line that has probably become a constant in The Unabridged Works Of Andrew Bolt: “What does the mob care?”

Of course, Bolt has a rich history of running nonsensical columns, including the time he quoted notorious Twitter personality @dril (“wint”).

If you’re not familiar with @dril, suffice to say that his target audience is not Andrew Bolt.

In total, some of Bolt’s usually ferocious comment community were also a bit confused with the decision to cover the breakup, asking the columnist if New Idea had infiltrated his blog.

Then there was this dude (who chose the very cool screenname ‘Atheist1′), who just copied out the entirety of The Beatles’ ‘How Do You Sleep?’ before explaining that the song had been written by John Lennon about Paul McCartney. Celebrities constantly go after each other in public. Thanks chief.

Anyway, the way SEO and the internet works, Bolt’s Miley column will probably pick up a ridiculous amount of views – because that’s the way things are, now. Hopefully that means we can expect more from Australia’s latest king of popular culture.
