Adelaide Bloke Arrested For Stupidly Aiming Laser Pointer At Police Chopper

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you’re going to be a complete deadshit and aim a laser pointer at an aircraft, the very least you can do in order to lessen your chances of being arrested is find an aircraft which does not belong to the goddamn police.

This is some advice which should have been offered to a certain 54-year-old Adelaide man, who was arrested after he allegedly shone a laser pointer at a police chopper while it flew over the city’s north-east.

The Advertiser reports that the helicopter was flying over the Rostrevor area just before 11.30pm when a green laser pointer light was directed at them for several minutes. Upon surveying the area, they saw a man in his backyard using the laser pointer.

Here’s a very accurate artist’s impression of how the bloke looked when the helicopter very clearly identified him.

Cops on the ground quickly identified the bloke’s location and arrested him. He faces Adelaide Magistrates Court next month.

Folks. Don’t point laser pointers at aircraft, ever. And if you absolutely must do it for some completely insane reason, a police helicopter is just about the worst thing you could ever point at.
