Teens Arrested, Helicopter Deployed as Cops Bust Up Brisbane Party

Brisbane police have a brand new Polair Two helicopter, and like anyone with a new toy, they’re dead set keen to play with it.

Earlier this year, they used it to catch some kids doing burn-outs near a boat ramp at Bald Hills (stay classy, Brisbane). Overnight, it was deployed again, to help contain a bunch of teens at an out of control party in Ipswich.
ABC News report that “more 20 police crews” and the aforementioned helicopter were deployed to an address in Redbank Plains, after several people called with complaints about a rowdy party.
The party was attended by around 120 people, most of them teenagers. When police arrived, the crowd began to disperse onto the street, but when a party-goer was arrested, the shit hit the fan.
The crowd reportedly began throwing bottles at officers, and Queensland Police Service say that two constables were assaulted, sustaining minor bruising.
All-told, four people between the ages of 14 and 17 were taken in and charged with public nuisance offenses, while three others were issued with infringement notices.
The event led to the closure of the street, and police say it took more than an hour and a half for the crowd to fully disperse. We’ll say again, though, it took a fucking helicopter to break this thing up.
Well played, kids, for having a ripper of a night in the suburbs. Well played, whoever got to call in the chopper. Well played to us all. We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: ‘STRAYA, MATE.
