A US school administrator was fired for roasting a student online after the offending tweet went viral.
Katie Nash, 34, a former staff member at the Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) in Maryland who managed the Twitter account, was terminated last week after she corrected a student’s spelling (a heinous crime that falls under the definition of ‘roasting on the line’).
The exchange occurred January 5th, when Nathan – presumably a student at FCPS, but in this post-truth world, he could equally be a sentient cactus – pleaded with the school to close the following day (the county was preparing for snow).
“We had received feedback from some students in a focus group that our tweeting was a bit flat, they were looking for some more engagement. They were looking for us to tweet back at them and I really took that to heart because I know that I am a little bit older and maybe not as hip as some of the students are, so I took that to heart and I took that feedback in.”
Despite the whole thing escalating into a debate about bullying, Nathan doesn’t appear to be taking his public roasting to heart.
i didn’t take it like personaly

So how does this story end? The offending tweet was (obviously) deleted, the school apologised to Nathan, and Nash, who will continue to be part of school functions in a non-employed manner, hopes that FCPS has a good hard think about how to use social media to engage students moving forward.
TBH, just count your blessings that you finished high school before it employed a social media manager.
