One of the most essential tunes in the Australian songbook has landed a 2017 update from Horrorshow, and friends, it’s a smooth and sullen way to kick off your Friday.
The Sydney hip hop duo brought their mates in to the Triple J studio for their Like A Version rendition of The Whitlams’ No Aphrodisiac, and the arrangement is a total winner.
A sneaky new verse namedropping The Whitlams’ Eternal Nightcap gives in to a passage musing on the so-near-but-so-far nature of social media, and hearing “boredom, red hair, no hair, innocense, Instagram“ somehow works.
It’s not the first time Tim Freedman’s piano-centric act has landed the hip hop treatment, but it may have just been the most successful attempt. Nice one, pals.
