[UPDATED] Gotye Takes Out THREE Grammy Awards

[UPDATED] Wow. What a day/night for Gotye who has just taken out two three gongs at the 2013 Grammy Awards. He was just announced as the winner of the highly coveted Record Of The Year for “Somebody That I Used To Know” which, I’m fairly sure, makes him the first Australian artist to do so since Olivia Newton John won for “I Honestly Love You” in 1975!

At the pre-telecast announcements (that take place just prior to the live broadcast Award ceremony) the Melbourne bedroom musician turned pop music supernova Wally de Backer won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album for his record Making Mirrors, as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Somebody That I Used To Know” with his Kiwi-born, Melbourne-based duet partner, Kimbra.

Gotye got a generous shout out from Anthony Gonzalez of M83, also nominated in the Best Alternative Album category as well as Tom Waits, Fiona Apple and Bjork.

Congratulations to Gotye and Kimbra for the fantastic results, and stay tuned for the full rundown of Grammy winners plus the red carpet debrief in the next couple of hours.
