Gotye Scores 3 Grammy Nominations

Wow mangoes, it’s been a massive week for Gotye! Fresh from plundering the Arias and reassuring us that the LP wasn’t dead, Gotye has flown the flag and grabbed three Grammy nominations. If they handed out  Grammys for wackest names in pop, Wally De Backer would be a sure thing, but unfortunately he’ll face tougher competition in the following categories:

Record of the Year
(for ‘Somebody I Used To Know feat. Kimbra)
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (for ‘Somebody I Used To Know feat. Kimbra)
Best Alternative Music Album (for his acclaimed Making Mirrors)

Goyte will be facing off against Taylor Swift,
The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, and M83 across his various nominated
categories but given how bananas he went statside this year, we have to
think he’s a fair chance of grabbing at least one.

Gotye summed up his nominations in his true self deprecatory style. “I’m not from Western Australia, so a nomination for a WAMI remains a distant dream. But three Grammy nominations are pretty good too. Truly though, it’s an honour to be recognised and nominated amongst so many great musicians.

The winners of the Grammys will be announced in Los Angeles on February 11 (Australian time).
