Lollapalooza Got Rained The Fuck Out And Poor Lorde Is Heartbroken

Being outside has plenty of drawcards, but being exposed to torrential downpours is not necessarily one of them.

Punters at Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival found themselves subjected to thunderstorms and some serious downpours at the tail end of the night, forcing artists to pause their sets. The situation eventually became so severe that organisers had to evacuate the premises.

Footage on the ground reveals the storm wasn’t exactly conducive to having a boogie, and it’s probably just as well that festival-goers were asked to hightail out of the area.

While it was a pretty soggy end to the evening, nobody was more upset than Lorde. The Kiwi champion and Bud Light (lol) Stage headliner was partway through her set when the tempest really bloody kicked in.

Fans on-site report she was only 20 minutes into her gig when the powers that be told her to call it a night, and footage from the crowd shows the performer visibly distressed at the entire situation.

That inclement weather kept her off the stage for good. She took to Twitter shortly after that heartbreaking cancelation, and look, she isn’t exactly chuffed with the whole situation either.

Alt-rock heavy hitters Muse were also impacted by the rain, which forced them off the stage too.

Showers are expected to continue through until tomorrow, so we’re hoping the cut-off performers can rustle something up – preferably under a roof.
