‘The Simpsons’ First Ever Hr-Long Ep Will Feature Snoop Dogg & A Hip-Hopera

Earlier this year, the showrunners of The Simpsonsannounced that they were gonna spin its first ever hour-long episode.

Today, more details have been released about guest stars and plot, and hoo boy, it’s a humdinger.
Titled The Great Phatsby‘, the ep will be a Great Gatsbyinspired riff on the hit HBO show Empire‘, where Mr Burns must save his abundant fortune from a famous rapper, and Taraji P. Henson voices the rapper’s conniving wife.
Wow. There’s a sentence I’d never thought I’d write.
Of course, Henson plays one of Empire‘s most beloved characters, Cookie, but the homage doesn’t end there. The episode will actually feature original lyrics by Jim Beanz, who writes for ‘Empire’ too.
The hilarity doesn’t wanna give up, either. The Holy Trinity of rap – Snoop Dogg, Common and RZA – are all joining the cast in guest spots. ‘Simpsons’ producer Dan Greaney said they chose artists who “represent different moods and different aspects of the history of hip-hop.”

Who the bloody hell can pick how this will pan out? Was Matt Groening so inspired by the success of Hamiltonhe felt compelled to pen a hip-hopera of his own? How will F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s beloved novel factor in? Will my childhood dream be realised and I can finally hear the beauty of Marge busting out a rap in that iconic croaky voice?
Only time will tell. The release date of ‘The Great Phatsby’ hasn’t been announced just yet, but will keep you in the loop. If it’s anywhere near as good as the Cypress Hill cameo, I’ll be spewin’.
