Rebel Wilson and triple platinum recording artist Anna Kendrick will reprise their respective roles as Fat Amy and Grumpy DJ Girl who finds the harmony within her through her instrumental role in an all-female a cappella group in Pitch Perfect 2, the sequel to the highest-grossing movie musical comedy featuring gallons of projectile vomiting of 2012.
Elizabeth Banks, who produced and starred in the original, last month signed on as the director of Pitch Perfect 2 for her directorial debut; she’s also widely credited as originating the film’s concept.
With a May 15th, 2015, release date almost three years after the initial film premiered, it’ll be interesting to see whether screenwriter Kay Cannon is able to seamlessly integrate college a cappella music into the lives of two women – four if alumni characters Anna Camp and Britney Snow return – who should have long since left college, laws of space and time notwithstanding.
