Elizabeth Banks Has Signed On To Direct A ‘Pitch Perfect’ Sequel

The film that you missed when it was gone…is getting a sequel! Directed by none other than Elizabeth Banks who, after acting in and producing the original, will be making her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2: The Cups (working title).

Universal Picture chairman, Donna Langley, has said of the appointment, “Elizabeth originated the idea for ‘Pitch Perfect’ and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success. She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we’re thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on ‘Pitch Perfect 2.”

Word is that Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson will all reprise their roles and that Kay Cannon, writer of Pitch Perfect 1 is currently working on the follow-up script, with the film set to be released in 2015. The original, which followed the not so original ‘competition film with a musical element’ template, was considered an unexpected success after it grossed $115 million worldwide on a scant $17 million budget, had a soundtrack that went platinum and made about $135 million in North America alone in physical and digital home entertainment sales.

Crushed it.

Relive the magic in anticipation for next year:
