Random Sydney Band Will Support One Direction On Global Tour

Four Western Sydney teenagers are currently being devoured by One Direction’s crazy Twitter tweens following the announcement that they will be supporting the hugely popular boy band on their 2013 world tour.

5 Seconds Of Summer will be opening over 110 shows for One Direction throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In total they’ll be playing to about 1.3 million people – a pretty massive deal for the side-fringed boys whose age ranges from just 16 to 18 years old.

Playing their first gig at the Annandale Hotel to a total of 12 people when the group formed in December 2011, 5SOS have grown their own bubblegum pop following which has seen their home-recorded EP chart at number 3 on iTunes as well as sell out two national tours.

Apparently good old 1D discovered the local boys on YouTube last year and have been hanging out with them ever since. “We all knew straight away they were very special,” One Direction’s Niall Horan said. “We’re so excited to have them on the road with us and we know our fans are going to love what these lads do.”

Well, it seems the girls are certainly going wild over 5SOS already, with #5sosfollowme trending on Twitter this morning and “I knew them first!!!” arguments breaking out as we speak. SCANDALOUS.

They released their new single ‘Heartbreak Girl’ earlier this week so feel free to judge the catchy pretty boy tunes below.
