Rage Celebrates 25 Years On Air Tonight

RAAAAAGE will go to air tonight at the special time of 10.20pm in celebration of its silver jubilee, with a retrospective episode hosted by You Am I’s Tim Rogers. Here’s something you might not know: Rage is the longest running music television show on air in the world. Your move, MTV.

The episode will cover a quarter-century’s worth of rage time – encompassing a who’s who of guest programmers and their chosen music videos, as well as contributions of righteous rage memories from the talent rage helped spawn, including Peter Garrett, Sarah Blasko, Kram from Spiderbait, Children Collide, The Temper Trap, Chris Taylor of The Chaser, The Jezabels, Quan from Regurgitator, The Grates, and Zan Rowe and The Doctor from triple j.

Those of you who have grown up/are still growing up watching rage (and I think that’s pretty much everybody) are invited to #maintaintherage with an all night viewing party. You can upload your party pics to rage’s FB and Twits, and the best picture poster will win the rage red couch. I for one will definitely be sitting on the floor, cross-legged, craning up at the TV, eating cereal in my jammies, terrified of the closing credits.

This was one of the first music videos rage played on Friday April 17th, 1987 (according to TV Tonight):

This used to scare the shit out of me when I was little(r):

And this might be the best thing ever:

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY, RAGE!
