Empire Of The Sun, Ladyhawke, The Temper Trap, The Drones and Hilltop Hoods were among the hopefuls announced in 2009’s ARIA Award nominations. Emperor Steele and Captain Littlemore led the charge with a “Album Of The Year” nomination joining AC/DC, Eskimo Joe, Sarah Blasko and The Temper Trap in the highly coveted category. The duo’s “Walking On A Dream” also nabbed a “Single Of The Year” nomination aka the “Sports Tonight Montage Song Of The Year Award” with Hilltop Hoods, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ladyhawke and Temper Trap also in the running.
Other nominations of interest include The Presets’ “Best Dance Release” nod for “Talk Like That” taken from last year’s Apocalypso, the validation of independent toilers Dappled Cities and The Drones and Art Vs. Science’s foolproof secret to garnering ARIA nominations in your band’s infancy – flippers.
