360 And Gotye Lead 2012 ARIA Nominations

The full list of nominees for Australia’s official Gotye coronation ceremony the 2012 ARIA Awards have been announced today in Sydney. Charismatic Melbourne MC 360 leads all comers with six nominations including Best Urban Album, Best Live Act, Breakthrough Artist, Best Male Artist, Song of The Year and Album of the Year. Unfortunately, at least three of those belong to Gotye who has five nominations including Best Pop Release (lock), Best Male Artist (lock), Best Live Act and Album of the Year (lock). THE BIG ONE will also be contested by The Temper Trap’s self-titled sophomore album, Missy Higgins’ The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle and Prisoner by The Jezabels, who managed five nominations including Best Live Act, Best Group, Best Independent Release and Best Rock Album.

Also announced were the non-televised Artisan Award winners, including father and son Best Cover Art winners Frank and Wally De Backer, for Making Mirrors, Engineer of the Year Francois Tetaz, also for Making Mirrors, and Producer of the Year Styalz Fuego for 360’s Falling & Flying.

This year’s publicly voted categories include Song of the Year, Best International Artist, Best Australian Live Act and Best Video.

The 2012 ARIA Awards take place on Thursday November 29th at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
