“You crazy for this one Pedestrian”. That, skeptics, has been the consensus reaction to our 2010 Splendour In The Grass lineup predictions which boasted The Pixies, The Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, and Bat For Lashes.
Oh how they ridiculed us. The Pixies? they squealed, pointing at the general ridiculousness of the post with one hand and muffling laughter with the other. Why, they’re in the midst of an Australian Doolittle tour there’s no way they’d come back to so soon. Well skeptics we now know that Black, Kim, Joey and David will at least be in the vicinity come late July. According to a recent Facebook update the band will play at Christchurch Westpac Arena on the 3rd of August because after “their resounding North Island reception The Pixies acknowledged a visit to the Mainland was mandatory”.
This is obviously great news for the Mainland folk of New Zealand, but considering Splendour In The Grass runs from July 30th to Sunday August 1st, it’s also great news for the credibility of our batshit crazy Splendour prediction list. We’re quietly confident but let’s see how the rest of the list pans out in the following weeks.
