To be honest, I’m not sure which piece of news is more devastating – report that Jay-Z actually can’t stand Kanye West and that their kids have never even played together, or the ongoing saga that is the Mariah Carey–James Packer breakup.
Based on today’s update, we’re going to go ahead and pick the second one, as the latest round of reports suggest that Mariah only learned about the breakdown of her engagement by seeing it splashed around the press.
A ‘source’ spoke to E News about the breakup, and said that Mariah was “blindsided” by the spilt, which “came out of nowhere”, but reportedly started in Greece, following some kind of “outburst” from Packer.
The pair were reportedly planning to meet in Los Angeles to talk about the Greece incident, but prior to that, Mariah started seeing articles to the effect that they had broken it off. Said the source:
“The split has been devastating for Mariah … She loved James and was planning to marry him…She made life changes for this man to prepare for their future as husband and wife, even relocating to L.A., at James’ request, so he could be closer to his children. Everything she has done over the past year is to prove how fully committed she is to their life together. She really wanted this to work. And then, completely out of the blue, it imploded.”
The anonymous individual went on to say that Mariah and James haven’t met or spoken since reports of the breakup. “The way the split news was handled was incredibly upsetting to her.”
According to gossip monsters TMZ, reports that Mariah had a fling with her backup dancer Brian Tanaka are false, and that moreover, she refuses to engage in premarital sex with anybody.
TMZ also report that James and Mariah slept in separate bedrooms “in their homes and on their boats” and that her stance is “one reason he was pushing to get married ASAP.”
