Kirin J Callinan Has Been Charged Over His Alleged ARIAs Dick-Flashing Stunt

NSW Police have formally charged Kirin J Callinan over an incident at the ARIA Awards in which he allegedly flashed and exposed himself to press and photographers while walking the red carpet.

The incident occurred just after 4pm on November 28th outside the Star Event Centre at Sydney’s Star Casino.

Court documents filed against Callinan allege that he lifted the kilt he was wearing, deliberately exposing his penis to photographers and the media pack who were covering the ARIA Red Carpet arrivals.

Callinan has been charged with one count of wilful and obscene exposure in a public place, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of a $1,100 fine, or a six-month prison sentence.

Representatives for Callinan confirmed that the charges had been laid, but refused to comment any further on the matter given it is an on-going legal issue.

Fallout from the incident resulted in Callinan being removed from the lineup of the Laneway Festival, amid growing pressure on organisers from fellow artists on the bill.

Callinan has not commented publicly on the incident. He is scheduled to appear in a court in Sydney to hear the charge heard later this month.
