Katy Perry Is Subtweeting Taylor Swift Using ‘Mean Girls’ References

How do I begin to explain Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is flawless. I hear her hair is insured for $10,000. I hear she does Sony Cybershot TX7 commercials… in Japan. Her favourite movie is Love Actually [“It’s got the cutest ending!“].

One time, she met John Mayer on a plane, and he told her she was pretty.

One time, Katy Perry maturely sub-tweeted her after Swift made pretty thinly-veiled references to a feud the two are now involuntarily embroiled in in yesterday’s Rolling Stone profile
It was awesome.

To recap the crucial developments that have lead you to both this important story and this new and scary but nonetheless very exciting place in your life: while describing the events that informed ‘Bad Blood’, a song on her upcoming album about a rift with fellow singer, Swift outlined in her nicest glitter pen in the margins of her notebook – her ‘i’s dotted with perfect circles, wearing a t-shirt under her clothes that reads ‘I <3 Riff Raff‘ – the circumstances that would precede the penning of said song, which read as follows:

For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” [Swift] says. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’” Then last year, the other star crossed a line. “She did something so horrible,” Swift says. “I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict [Ed. note: nope, I could believe that]. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.

The arena sabotage incident that has lead to this not-at-all-hyperbolic blood feud refers to Perry violently poaching no less than three dancers from Swift’s admittedly very bored dance troupe, including a Tasmanian-born dancer who describes Swift as “untouchable” and “protected” and Katy as “fun”. I could believe that.

It’s unforgivable, yet entirely riveting, stuff. And now I guess she’s on crack.
