Taylor Says She And Katy Did Not Kiss While Dressed As A Burger And Fries

Taylor Swift, Katy Perry

Taylor Swift, the gay rights pioneer who threw the first pumpkin spice latte at Stonewall, has denied rumours that she and former rival Katy Perry are going to kiss in an upcoming music video.

The pair recently ended their long-running feud, and there has since been talk of a collaboration between them. Earlier this week, someone claiming to have inside information spoke with the What’s Your Jersey? podcast, saying:

“I have a friend that just worked on Taylor Swift’s new music video, and he said it’s her and Katy Perry, and they’re dressed up in the Katy Perry Met Gala burger outfit and Taylor I think is dressed up as french fries, and they kiss, and it’s supposed to be a whole Pride video thing.”

Though she rarely addresses this kind of thing directly, Taylor Swift clearly decided she needed to nip this one in the bud. The singer took to her Tumblr overnight to respond to the rumour, saying:

“Guys. That is ABSOLUTELY false. To be an ally is to understand the difference between advocating and baiting. Anyone trying to twist this positivity into something it isn’t needs to calm down. It costs zero dollars to not step on our gowns.”

Yesterday, Taylor Swift officially announced her seventh album, Lover, and let loose a new single, ‘You Need To Calm Down‘.

The song sees her taking aim at anti-LGBT bigotry, and you can watch the lyric video above.
