Katy Perry has not had the greatest start to her judging career on American Idol, what with her forcibly stealing a guy’s first kiss on television for all to see and hate her more for… Now, the Roar singer has thrown a speck of shade to Taylor Swift, the fellow singer she’s had a massive five-year feud with.
It all happened during one of the competition auditions when country singer and other judge, Luke Bryan asked the contestant, “Who do you look up to as an artist?”
And what was the contestant’s reply?
“I’m sorry for this Katy – Taylor Swift.”
*Literal drama music plays in background*.
Katy straight away perked up and tried to land a compliment to her nemisis. “Oh you don’t have to be sorry for that. I love her as a songwriter as-as-well.” She did actually fumble toward the end there.
Yeah look as far as things go, Katy definitely just flung some shade at Tay-Tay. And the contestant knew it as well ‘cos he had a lil’ cheeky giggle to himself. You may be shaking your head or just sighing at all of this but seconds later, Katy pulled this look to extend the feud a further three months.
Definitely not a compliment, definitely shade. At least she tried.

As you may or may not know, the drama hit the cabana in 2013 when Taylor apparently stole three dancers for her Red tour from Katy’s Prism tour in 2013. The horror. Then they both dated the same guy AKA John Mayer, then Katy apparently said Taylor was super, super fake, then all the songs about each other started – Bad Blood being the one that really set things off. And now here we are.
Ah celebrity feuds, when will they end? Never, the answer is never.
