Iggy Azalea Explains Why She Kept Performing During Backup Dancer’s Seizure

Iggy Azalea took that whole ‘the show must go on’ thing to a new level last Thursday when she saw her backup dancer having a seizure on stage during a performance of Black Widow at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana stadium and she kept right on rapping.

I mean, it doesn’t look good. Azalea seems to be staring at the dancer for a long time and the woman is literally on the floor, before turning around and getting all up in her rap like it ain’t no thing. At least she does holla for a medic before she launches back into it.

So it’s not very surprising that she received a lot of back lash online for what really looks like not giving a shit about in the midst of a serious medical emergency. The singer took to her Instagram stories to explain herself:

Hey guys, just want to let everyone asking know my dancer is OKAY! The lights & heat caused her to have a seizure. She is backstage feeling much better.

Also, for what it’s worth in regards to the backup dancer. 1. I thought she had just fallen/twisted her ankle. And it may sound harsh but; you keep singing until music stops & ask for a medic which is what I did. 2. We are all really shaken up by what happened & just thankful she is okay.

First of all, YAY that everyone is ok.

And look, her reasoning sounds kind of lame, especially when you consider how long she appeared to be staring at the dancer BUT I’ve certainly never been performing in a stadium (I’m sure it’ll happen any day now), and maybe it’s fair not to realise how serious someone lying on the ground might be until the music is cut?

On the other hand, literally all the other backup dancers gave up on the song and rushed to this poor woman’s aid, so who bloody knows.
