Florida Police ID The Man Who Shot And Killed ‘Voice’ Singer Christina Grimmie

There have been further developments in the tragic case of Christina Grimmie, the 22-year-old singer and former Voice contender who was shot and killed this weekend at a concert venue in Orlando, Florida.
Overnight, local police identified her killer as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, of St Petersburg, Florida. They have released an image of Loibl, but have not yet given any background information or speculated as to a motive.
Police are investigating Loibl’s computer, phone and other belongings, and at this stage, have said they they believe he travelled to Orlando specifically to commit the crime.
There is currently no known connection between the two. “We don’t know if he was just a crazy fan that followed her on Twitter or on social media,” police representative Wanda Miglio told media. “We really don’t know … it’s undetermined at this point.”
Grimmie was signing autographs late Friday, amid a crowd of around 120 people at The Plaza Live theatre, when a man now identified as Loibl approached with two handguns and a knife.
He fatally shot himself after Grimmie’s brother Marcus tackled him to the ground. The singer was rushed to hospital, where she later died.
The concert venue, which has no metal detectors and employs unarmed security guards to conduct bag searches, has offered its condolences to Grimmie’s family, and suspended all events “until further notice.”
