Just over a week after former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed after a show in Orlando, a singer from the show’s Mexican iteration has died after being shot in Chicago.
Alejandro Fuentes-Rosas, 45, was shot three times in the head on Thursday, while driving near his Tras Bambalinas music school on the city’s south side.
He had been celebrating his birthday with friends at the time.
Police report the attacker bolted from the scene and fled in another car. No arrests have been made in the case.
Miguel Sanchez, a friend of Fuentes-Rosas, said “we have no explanation why all these things are happening.”
Sanchez said while there are no clear suspects, “it wasn’t random. This guy, they were waiting for him. They were waiting for him to come out of the school.”
