Your boy Diplo once initiated a feud with Taylor Swift and it did not go very well for him. Back in 2014, the DJ – rudely, we must say – suggested a crowdfunding campaign to get Taylor “a booty”, and her fans turned on him with such force that he likened it to being attacked by North Korea.
They appeared to have put all that behind them, but Diplo has struck again in a recent Rolling Stone profile, throwing some fairly pointed barbs at Taylor’s track ‘Look What You Made Me Do‘ and likely inviting another pop star feud in the process.
When asked how streaming services determine which songs become hits, the DJ went in, saying:
“Music is in the hands of the kids. Streaming is literally what kids want to listen to over and over again. They want to listen to [Post Malone‘s] ‘Rockstar‘ and [Cardi B‘s] ‘Bodak Yellow‘ – they don’t want to listen to, like, [Taylor Swift’s] ‘Look What You Made Me Do’. That music doesn’t relate to them at all. I don’t think it ever did. They were only given that by radio, and marketing budgets. I’m impressed with Post Malone. I can relate to him more than Taylor Swift.”
With respect to Diplo, there are aspect of Taylor Swift’s output that I find extremely relatable – for example, this is me on 80% of any given day:
The singer, who has been fairly quiet on social media throughout this current album cycle, has yet to respond, but doubtless she is quietly seething somewhere and planning her revenge.
The last time Diplo started something with her, Taylor’s made Lorde went in on him and accused him of having a “tiny penis”, so we can’t wait to see where this one ends up.
